Ana DeDe Orbegoso

My artistic practice explores aspects of gender and identity through the use of iconography from the
collective memory, re signifying and creating new symbols that serve as support to communicate
contemporary concepts reclaiming history of the feminine experience. My sensorial landscape has been
informed, in great part, by Peruvian traditional cultural values and aesthetics. My practice intertwines a
critical and transformative approach to historical narratives, particularly those that have marginalized or
excluded the experiences and contributions of women. In a decolonizing act my work seeks to challenge and reshape the dominant paradigms that have traditionally dictated the way art and history are perceived and recorded.
My approach as a transnational artist transcends geographical boundaries and cultural specificities toaddress universal themes related to feminism and social awareness through non-traditional mediums and  unconventional platforms, projecting videos across diverse canvases – from the city streets to the very bodies that inhabit them.
