FLAVIA BERTORELLO (b. 1980, Córdoba, Argentina). NYC-based artist and architect exploring the body-environment relations through a practice that includes writing, drawing, and experimenting with materials in various formats, scales, and spatial contexts. She creates drawings, sculptures, wearable art, and installations as forms that reflect metaphors often rooted in personal/ universal associations. Interested in site-responsive processes, her work exists in the intersection between printed media, artists’ books, sculpture, video, and installation.

“Through a material-based practice, I explore the body/ environment dynamics. The nature of the materials and the process of working with them establishes a relationship, an exchange between technique and expression. Later, and through the same process, the aspects of form and meaning of function shape my work.  I’m interested in process and transformation. I connect with my own body to re-think ways in which architecture can give life to more sensitive structures. I see places/ sites as reservoirs of unique identity.
