BARRO is an annual exhibition that aims to highlight the work of a diverse tapestry of artistic voices in the
field of ceramics, each offering a unique perspective on their Latin American heritage. This space seeks to
promote a series of conversations about the proposals of contemporary ceramicists. Barro 2025 at NYLAAT
presents the conversation: Where Art Meets Technology.
Artists Alejandra Rojas and Augusto Ribeiro explore the intersection of craftsmanship and technology,
developing their own tools to create three-dimensional canvases that reflect their research on color, texture,
and the freedom of modularity. Their approach highlights technology’s role in expanding artistic possibilities.
In dialogue with this vision, Edurne Morales and Diego Zambrano offer perspectives that embrace the
harmony between modernity and tradition. Morales’ Talavera Project exemplifies this approach by
integrating new production technologies with regional techniques, preserving cultural heritage while
promoting sustainable practices. Meanwhile, Diego Zambrano examines the impact of programming on
matter, juxtaposing organic movement with programmed motion and opening a debate on the relationship
between nature and technology.
