Franklin Graulau

Franklin Graulau, a visual artist, navigates through sculptural ceramics, mixed media, photography, graphic design, styling, and any medium that accommodates his creative pursuits. He was born on October 10, 1967, in Coamo, Puerto Rico.

A graduate of the Altos de Chavón School of Design in 1987, he holds degrees in Fine Arts and Illustration. The artist turns his work into his creed, exploring themes and experiences that range from the genesis to the apocalyptic. His exponentially growing body of work suggests situations that transcend the realm of visual art. The subject matter is developed with the same intensity as the material composition of the artwork.

His fixation on discovering unconventional materials during the creative process keeps him in constant research, adding non-traditional values to his creations. The artist approaches his work through serial nuclei, where each piece is a response linked to the preceding one. He is passionate about capturing the beauty within the ugly. It is in this space where he finds inspiration and constructs his artwork, creating a connection with the viewer.
